Ten Broeck Mansion, Albany

This 209 years old Ten Broeck Mansion, Albany is a non-profit organization that preserves and explains the history and heritage of Albany New York’s Capital Region. The Ten Broeck Mansion, Albany is owned by the Albany County Historical Association and it has formed it’s headquarter in this mansion. The Ten Broeck Mansion, Albany is a “historic house museum” and it is an active community that strives to preserve the history of the county.

The Ten Broecks Mansion was primarily built for General Abraham Ten Broeck and his wife Elizabeth Van Rensselaer in 1797-98 when their house was destroyed in a fire.

After the death of General Ten Broecks in 1810 and Elizabeth after three years the mansion was renovated in a Greek style. In 1848 Thomas Worth Olcott purchased the property and named it Arbour Hill. In 1948 the Mansion was donated by one of the Olcott heirs to the Albany county Historical Association. Since the Albany County Historical Association has been maintaining and renovating the Ten Broecks Mansion Albany for the benefit of the community.

You can become a member of the Ten Broeck Mansion, Albany regardless of your place of stay. For becoming a member you have to pay $50 for a family and 425 for students and senior citizens.

You can rent the mansion for wedding parties and receptions, cocktail parties, picnics and other gatherings at a nominal fee.

You can take part in excavating the 209 years old historical Ten Broeck Mansion along with real archeologists. this opportunity is only for the 4th and 5th grade students.

The Ten Broeck Mansion is open to public viewing from May to December from 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays it is open from 1 pm to 4 pm. The visitors have to pay $5. Children below 12 years and the members of the mansion are free.
